We encountered many interesting people today as we visited class after class at one of the local private schools. The lunch hall was pretty incredible with around 6 different options on the lunch menu as well as self serving drinks, soups and soft serve ice cream. We started off with a graohic design course which was pretty cool...the teacher kept insisting on me sharing my knowledge of design with the students...i kept insisting that being from another country didn't actually give talent, knowledge or expertise beyond my years.
My favourite lesson was, surprisingly, world history. As it was a senior class the students were around our age and their mildly eccentric teacher was very engaging and realistic about the social structure of our world. The class was up to reviewing racism in America as well as other areas of the world such as Spain. It was really interesting hearing the class debate such an iconic American issue, particular with students of colour in the class. We spent a lot of time in the library also..Jen was finally able to solve "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd".
and who wouldda thunk it!!!? I know i was certainly double taking....in a literary sense.....
